The Reading Council Better Care Fund (BCF) Integration Programme leads the delivery of a range of exciting integration projects designed to make a difference to the health and social care support for Reading residents, linking in with our neighbouring Local Authorities and other system partners across Berkshire West, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire (BOB) Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Integrated Care Partnerships (ICP).

The Reading Integration Board (RIB) has 4 key priorities that we are delivering against this year and these are aligned with the wider system strategic priorities and our Health and Wellbeing Board strategic priorities, in particular; Priority 1: Reduce the differences in health between different groups of people and Priority 2: Support individuals at high risk of bad health outcomes to live healthy lives


To achieve the desired outcomes for our integration projects, we are looking for an ambitious and motivated project support officer, with a proven record of delivery, preferably with knowledge of one or more of the following:

  • Project support for Integrating services within health and social care
  • Change projects within Adult social care/health or commissioning
  • Process mapping/ development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)


About the role

The Project Support Officer will provide administrative support to the Integration Programme Manager and the Transformation team.  You will help co-ordinate, monitor and report on the project portfolio which consists of some Council-wide and system wide (Berkshire West) transformational projects and programmes. 

The post includes supporting the smooth operation of the Reading Integration Board as well as supporting the Programme Managers with resource planning/tracking. It is key that you ensure the agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Ensure the agreed project management methods, standards and processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain the project library, filing, recording and reporting systems for the Integration programmes.
  • Monitor and report on progress of project plans to ensure delivery, pro-actively reminding officers of upcoming milestones due and assisting with amending plans as necessary.
  • Coordinate the production of reports and produce project summary reports as required.
  • Help coordinate the Integration programme of work (which consists of monitoring activity against the Reading Integration Board Programme of Work, project management and continual improvement)
  • Monitor and help coordinate the Integration Board Communications
  • Monitor and report against key risks and issues for the Integration Board within projects and programmes, escalating as necessary
  • Oversee and own the tracking and logging of Business Cases and other project management documentation (e.g. lessons learnt)
  • Research and embed good project management practice, providing support, advice and guidance to senior managers and partners on implementation


About you

The following experience is required for this role:

  • High degree of self-motivation and initiative
  • Working in a PMO/project management environment
  • Collating information for and the production of reports and briefings, including support duties for Board meetings
  • Monitoring multiple small sized projects, programmes and business case development, including highlighting risks and issues
  • Data gathering techniques and basic analysis (including performance metrics)
  • Process, organisational, technological and business change environment
  • Researching of ideas, initiatives, best practice
  • Experience of working with Standard Operating Procedures and process mapping applications
