Help promote recycling and environmental care across a high-profile London borough.
At the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, we are focused on putting our residents and local businesses at the heart of every decision. From the policy decisions that we are making through to the services that we are delivering, it’s vital that we put the needs of our community first. We want to give everyone a great quality of life, with access to a comfortable home, sustainable and desirable employment options, and the chance to live and work in a healthy and safe environment. And our Waste Action Team play a vital part in achieving these goals.
Joining our friendly, supportive team, you will deliver domestic recycling bags to residents across Kensington and Chelsea. In doing so, you will be helping improve recycling rates across the borough, in turn fulfilling our wider environmental aims as a council.
As part of your duties, you will plan a rolling programme of deliveries for the borough. In addition, you will need to respond to ad-hoc requests from residents and deliver garden waste bags for those who have signed up to our garden collection service. On top of this, you will unload weekly deliveries via forklift truck and on occasion you will need to liaise with residents to deal with complaints and provide advice on how to recycle more.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.
You will need a good standard of fitness as this is a physically demanding role. You might come from a role in deliveries, waste or a service industry, but what counts is that you are a confident driver, work well as part of a team, have good customer service skills, are flexible in the way you work and have a genuine interest in the environment. You will also need a driving license and ideally some knowledge of our recycling services.
In return, you can look forward to a package that includes a competitive salary, a high-quality pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent learning and development opportunities.
