This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated leader, urban designer, architect or landscape architect to lead the Spatial Planning Service’s Placemaking Team.
About the Role
Team Leader – Placemaking Team – Spatial Planning
You will lead the Placemaking Team of the Spatial Planning Service - recognised in the Farrell Review as one of the most proactive planning teams in the UK. In the role you will lead an award-winning team of placemaking professionals with backgrounds in architecture, planning, urban design, stakeholder engagement, conservation and landscape architecture. Your role will include supporting the Head of Service to deliver the Service Plan, manage the Service, provide professional design services, oversee the design and successful delivery of public realm schemes, provide and oversee design advice as part of the development management process and contributions to the planning policy framework. You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, and especially with those in the Place Department. You will be expected to lead on building on the award-winning standard of work with which Croydon’s Placemaking Team has become associated.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in leadership, managing a considerable and varied work programme, engagement with stakeholders, contributing to the design of development schemes, the design and delivery of high quality public realm schemes and a practical understanding of the planning system. In addition to the person specification, the successful candidates will be driven to work in a collaborative environment and will be a leader, highly motivated, creative, and able to prioritise a varied and challenging work programme.
