Working as part of a flexible, multi-disciplined environmentally focussed reactive team within Neighbourhood Services, the successful applicant will be given the opportunity to work under guidance as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a range of grounds maintenance services across the borough of Barnsley.
To enhance the learning experience on offer by this apprenticeship there is the expectation of the applicant to undertake the provided Level 2 vocational qualification in Local Environmental Services. The training associated with the qualification will cover a range of cleansing and environmental services skills and related practices. The objectives of the course are to ensure the development of practical skills, related background knowledge and will include Health and Safety issues and procedures.
The tasks associated with the role will include the following: -
Litter collection, litter bin emptying, Removal / installation of litter / dog bins, Flytipping removal, Garden clearances, Grass / hedge cutting, Erecting / repairing fencing, Flower bed planting (under guidance), Minor arbor work, Other Specialised skills such as marking out, floral decorations etc., Manual solvent based graffiti removal, Snow clearing & gritting
