Orient Street Short Breaks Respite Service for children and adults with learning disability.
We are looking for a person who has experience of supporting both children and adults with learning disabilities, preferably in a residential setting. You will be user and family focused.
You would be part of a team of staff providing support for people with learning disabilities, some of whom are autistic- providing a safe, caring and stimulating living environment and promoting the wellbeing of residents whilst maximising the residents' opportunities to engage in ordinary living and community life.
You will have an understanding of the needs of carers and the importance of respite care in supporting them where appropriate. Knowledge of the roles of professionals in other disciplines and other statutory organisations such as Ofsted and CQC, in the implementation of the provision of care. Knowledge of the principles of normalisation and social role valorisation and informed choice in enhancing the independence of residents is also an essential.
6 months fixed term contract 18 hours per week.
This is a residential service therefore you will be required to work a shift pattern which includes weekends and bank holidays.
