Main advert detailOur Housing Officers manage council owned properties and provide the landlord service to our tenants and leaseholders across Brighton and Hove. Housing Officers work within small Cluster teams which are each managed by a Housing Manager.
The Housing Officer works mainly on a casework basis to manage the life-cycle of our tenancies.
The work is varied and interesting and includes improving the safety and appearance of the estate, working with vulnerable residents to reduce social and financial exclusion and dealing with tenancy breaches including Anti Social Behaviour.
Your main duties will include:
*Provide excellent customer service to tenants and leaseholders and be responsive to other stakeholders such as Councillors and colleagues
*Undertake a complex caseload and be able to prioritise your case work
*Ensure accurate case recording of a high standard
*Carry out work relating to the life cycle of the tenancy including ASB, breaches of tenancy, tenancy management, tenancy sustainment and tenancy visits within legislation, case law, statutory guidance, policy, procedures and good practice.
*Take responsibility for assessing need and making decisions about appropriate course of action in liaison with partner agencies and your line manager.
*To be accountable for performance and delivery of a complex workload and report on performance and outcomes.
You must be a strong team member with excellent communication and negotiating skills and be able to deliver a great service to our tenants and leaseholders. You must also have good ICT Skills and be able to provide clear and accurate reports for court, witness statements and communicate with a varied audience.
Experience of working in an enforcement role is necessary and it is equally important that you are able to engage and work effectively with the diverse communities within our City.
