Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is looking for a Senior Environmental Health Officer/Scientific Officer to join the Mid Kent Environmental Health service. This is an exciting time of change and innovation and a great opportunity to be part of the Environmental Protection Team.

The Mid Kent Environmental Health partnership has been formed by combining the environmental health teams from Tunbridge Wells, Maidstone and Swale Borough Councils. The successful candidate will be based in the Swale Borough Council office in Sittingbourne and be the lead officer for Air Quality and Pollution Prevention Control in the Swale Borough Council area.

You will need to have experience of all aspects of air quality matters, pollution prevention and general environmental protection matters. You will be a strong team player with a positive outlook.  We have a strong emphasis on training and development through external courses, internal peer lead training and an effective professional network of specialised local training across Kent.

You will be responsible for the development of strategic air quality policy and action plans, working with partner agencies to develop deliverable and challenging initiatives to improve air quality across the five Swale Air Quality Management Areas. You will also be involved with the pollution prevention work across the whole MKEH service as well as some reactive noise work for commercial premises and planning and licensing consultations and will work across authority boundaries, where necessary, to deliver professional expertise. We are committed to a high standard of professionalism and enable this through a strong and well established learning and development programme.
