About the role

Science Technician - The Turing School

  • Salary: £11,057 - £11,592 pro rata (£19,026 - £19,945 fte) SAT4
  • Permanent
  • Term Time plus 5 staff development days
  • 25 hours a week, Monday to Friday

We have an opportunity to appoint a Technician within our Science Department.

As a Science Technician you will work with Teachers as part of a team to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Key duties are:

  • Set up resources, materials and equipment for lessons
  • Support structured and practical activities for groups or on a one-to-one basis
  • Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials and equipment
  • Clean and undertake maintenance of equipment
  • Undertake record keeping, as directed
  • Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances and respond to actual or potential hazards

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience of similar work
  • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety procedures especially as they relate to work in the specific environment (e.g. Laboratory)
  • Knowledge of appropriate use of relevant equipment (including handling hazardous substances safely) and ability to communicate this knowledge to staff and students

A level 2 Diploma (or equivalent) and proficient technical, practical and computer skills would be an advantage.
