Strategy and Policy Development Manager

Starting salary: JM3:- £41,591 per annum
Location: Based in North Somerset
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

We are looking for a Strategy and Policy Development Officer to work in Children’s Services, for North Somerset Council. You will work on a wide-ranging portfolio of work spanning Education Partnerships, Family Support and Safeguarding and Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
You will propose, plan and lead on Strategy and Policy Development projects which will support improved outcomes for children and their families, including:
- Service improvements and redesign
- Updating strategies and policies across the North Somerset Partnership (in partnership with others)
- Work closely with partners, universities, stakeholders to contribute to and influence the successful dissemination of best practice guidance nationally
- Conduct evidence-based research, investigation and analysis of service users’ needs and current performance
- Chair working groups, prepare reports, briefings, advice and make recommendations to Senior Leaders
- Communicate effectively with regional and national partners colleagues and businesses, both verbally and in writing.
- Write fund raising bids
To do this well, you will have the following skills:
- Experience of effective partnership working with external stakeholders including through formal structures and processes
- Significant experience in service development and embedding improvements into work methodologies
- Ability to build and develop positive and effective working relationships with councillors, senior officers, and relevant personnel in external agencies.
- Experience of developing and writing strategy, planning, policy documents and formal reports
- Ability to collect, collate and analyse evidence and present findings to stakeholders and senior decision makers, responding effectively to issues or challenges raised
