Are you an enthusiastic, motivated Occupational Therapist looking to develop your skills, promote integration and independence?

West Berkshire Council has rare opportunities for a part time HCPC registered Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive team. We are a small Local Authority with a mixture of urban and rural communities which offers great variety and positive challenges.   West Berkshire Council is embracing a new way of working with a strong focus on localities and a strengths based approach to the people that we work with.

We have a vacancy within our West Locality Team, based in Newbury.

The Occupational Therapist will be working collaboratively with the Social Workers and Social Care Practitioners in an Adult team to identify ways to manage the needs of adults who need care and support in the community. The work is very varied and will involve working with adults with a wide range of needs and disabilities.

Skills in moving and positioning assessments and knowledge of seating solutions are essential to enable the people to maintain their independence and safety at home. Our Occupational Therapists also advise on adaptations to property and equipment provision and provide training to informal carers and care agency staff.

It will be important to work with both external partners (e.g. Health, Voluntary Sector) and internal partners (e.g. Housing, Safeguarding).

West Berkshire benefits include:

  • Monthly professional supervision.
  • Monthly CPD activities.
  • Monthly informal moving and positioning sessions.
  • Funded study days.
  • Flexible working hours and the opportunity to work from home (laptop and smart phone provided).
  • Competitive annual leave allowance.
  • Car user and fuel allowance.
  • Relevant training provided.
