We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join the Brio team as our new Managing Director!  

 

As Managing Director you’ll provide inspirational, visionary strategic leadership to ensure that the organisation delivers high quality, high performing, and innovative Leisure and wellbeing services to the population of the Borough. 

 

You will shape and manage the organisation via executive directorship on the Board of Directors and all related responsibilities. 

 

 

What you’ll be doing;  

  1. Establishing company goals, aligned with the board and shareholder goals. 
  2. Strengthen the profile of the Brio and acting as the figurehead, relationship builder and networker both internally and externally to meet and expand all opportunities 
  3. Providing strategic advice to the board of directors, plan cost-effective business strategies and develop new ideas based on market and industry · 
  4. Lead the development, direction and performance of Brio Leisure and executing the strategic plan, management of financial budgets & targets and joining the Executive Board. 
  5. Manage the operational efficiency of the business, with an eye on continuous improvement, alongside a firm hand on all policies, processes, and compliance. 
  6. Drive business growth through leadership team management, mentoring and their professional development, and regular goal setting. 
  7. Maintain an awareness of risks (both internally and externally) and effectively manage it through the organisation and report to the board, lead the organisation to respond proactively to risks and any changes. 
  8. Determine the resources required to deliver Brio Leisure’s strategy and ensure that these are effectively deployed and managed to optimum effect in line with Company priorities and strategic objectives ensuring value for money. 
  9. Ensure the organisation fulfils its legal, statutory, and regulatory responsibilities. 
  10. Be responsible to the Board for the performance of the business in accordance with agreed strategies, plans and policies. Ensure the Board and stakeholders receive timely, accurate and meaningful performance and financial information to provide confidence and assurance of business viability and to enable strategic decision making. 
  11. Produce annual report/business plan to the Board incorporating key strategic plans and proposals which reflect the ethos of Brio Leisure and deliver innovative options which provide value for money, incorporate best practice, and deliver positive sustainable outcomes for customers and their communities. 
  12. Lead, champion and support major organisational change programmes in order to facilitate change and ensure that Brio’s objectives and priorities are translated into action and anticipated benefits are realised. 

 

To undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the level of the position. 

 

What skills & experiences do you need? 

 

  • Strong academic background with over 10 years’ experience 
  • Experience of working as part of a leadership team 
  • Executive Director experience / Governance experience / Community Interest Company experience 
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to operate at strategic level.  
  • Up to date knowledge of business management and related standards, regulations and legalities. 
  • Able to analyse complex situations, advise on risks and develop pragmatic solutions.
