Democratic Services Officer
We are seeking an enthusiastic person with initiative and drive to join a small but busy team in delivering high quality services supporting the Council’s democratic processes. This will involve co-ordinating and servicing meetings of the Council’s committees, most of which take place in the evening, working closely with elected local Councillors and Senior Officers. The post holder will undertake the full range of committee administration including preparing and publishing agendas and reports and taking accurate minutes of meetings and decisions.
Familiarity with committee procedures and knowledge of local government legislation is desirable as the successful candidate will need to hit the ground running, but training will be provided for exceptional candidates with transferable skills.
Applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with Councillors and Senior Officers and will need strong written and spoken communication skills as well as interpersonal and organisational skills. Although the role is office based and meetings take place in-person at the Civic Centre in Dartford there is an opportunity to work remotely at other times.
