The Financial Support team currently has a vacancy for a full time Financial Adviser for a fixed term until May 31st, 2019. This post is cover whilst other team members work on the introduction of our new Financial Management Information System. This post will provide professional financial advice, guidance and support on the implementation and development of all accounting, costing and financial management arrangements of the Council to staff within the Regeneration, Resources and Chief Executive Services.
This is an exciting and worthwhile opportunity to join the Financial Support team to assist Central Bedfordshire to fulfil its objectives of stewardship and efficiency, to make the best use of its resources available as it will ensure that budget managers operate within their budgets and that any financial risk to the Council is managed and minimised. The role will be focused on results to deliver outcomes that make a tangible difference to the lives of residents in Central Bedfordshire.
You will assist in the preparation of revenue budgets, budget monitoring and closure of annual accounts, under the guidance of the Senior Finance Manger within the timetable and standards specified by the Chief Finance Officer to ensure that the financial plans provide an effective and accurate base for financial management.
An AAT qualification or actively pursuing is desirable. It is essential the candidate can demonstrate relevant experience of working in a financial environment in a similar role with experience of local government finance desirable. The role involves working with complex databases and spreadsheets and therefore it is essential there is a proven ability with attention to detail and high accuracy levels. Good verbal and written skills and able to work on their own initiative and under pressure to achieve tight deadlines is also essential due to the nature of the work this role covers. Training will be provided, particularly with regards to our financial management system (SAP) as the post holder will assist in the process of ensuring its integrity, that budgets are kept up to date and material errors are reported appropriately. Support will be provided by other Financial Advisers, and the Senior Finance Manager.
