East Sussex Children’s Services

East Sussex Children’s Services is Ofsted graded outstanding Local Authority. This is not an easy accomplishment and is the result of many factors including recruiting the right people who then commit to stay with us for the long term. Recruiting and retaining the right staff, whether that is social workers, residential keyworkers, or early help practitioners, is key to ensuring that we make a real difference to the most vulnerable children and families in our community.  We have had a great track record in the past but as with most Local Authorities we are facing some recruitment challenges. In response to this challenge, we are establishing a new recruitment and retention team located in the heart of the service.  This has created this new post of Recruitment Manager for social care and early help.  As the new manager of this service, you will drive forward recruitment and retention strategic activity, building upon pre-existing strengths and developing new initiatives.

 

About you

You will be a resourceful, passionate, and motivated individual who has experience in leading on recruitment and retention across a large workforce.

You will be a creative thinker, good problem solver and have excellent strategic skills.  You will also have excellent management skills.  Not only will you be able to innovate in the area of recruitment and retention, but you will also have outstanding relationship skills, being able to motivate and influence others and developing positive collaborations with the local universities and other stakeholders ensuring the profile of our workforce is significantly increased and developing multiple routes into children’s services.

Alongside your good working knowledge of developing strategy, you will also have the practical and creative abilities to work with communications professionals to develop recruitment campaign materials using a variety of channels including traditional media, social media and website advertising.  You will also lead on the developing and updating the design and content of the recruitment website for early help, social care and residential services.
