Support Worker (Employment & Volunteering)
Our Employment and Volunteering Support Workers have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of adults and young people with disabilities or additional support needs. Working within local employers and voluntary organisation’s you will support people to develop practical skills, build confidence and enable them to make a real contribution within their chosen work or volunteering setting.
As an Employment and Volunteering Support Worker you will support people on a practical level to achieve identified outcomes as part of a support plan. You will work in collaboration with a range of local agencies, from Barnsley College to employers and voluntary organisations. You will feedback on the development and work skills of the people you support and assist us to identify any barriers to employment and volunteering.
You will need a Level 2 qualification and experience of working with vulnerable groups. You will have an understanding of the principles of person centred support and the ability to work in an enabling manner. As important as your experience of enabling vulnerable people will be your ability to build collaborative working relationships and to promote opportunities for vulnerable people.
The main focus of this role will be supporting people as a job coach in their work placements. You may also be required to work additional hours for which you will be paid overtime. Some evening and weekends may also be required.
