ENVIRONMENT ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
GRADE 6 £ - £24,313
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Officers working together to create a Cleaner, Greener, Safer Wyre.
As part of the Environment Enforcement Team, you will play a key role in delivering the Council’s commitment to tackling the crime and grime agenda including combatting littering, dog fouling/control, fly-tipping, fly-posting, graffiti, abandoned vehicles, stray dogs and associated environmental concerns, which ensures your contribution makes Wyre safer, and another aspect of the role is monitoring key service contracts while actively promoting waste minimisation and recycling initiatives.
You will be required to work predominantly on your own when responding to queries, leading on projects, while occasionally linking-up with other team members to engage with individuals and wider community groups to address the above areas of concern.
Environment Enforcement Officers undertake a range of Enforcement Activities including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices, investigating Environmental related incidents, creation of prosecution files (potentially attending court) and serving various other legal notices to crack down on those who drop litter, fly-tip, do not manage their waste effectively, allow their dogs to foul, or allow them to be out of control in public places.
This is a high profile service and we are keen to enhance the service and get residents and businesses alike to take ownership and assist us in tackling and resolving tackle environmental issues. An Environmental Enforcement Officer is also expected to engage with all stakeholders and promote responsible citizenship while encouraging everyone to ‘do their bit’.
A full UK driving licence is essential. The post is primarily mobile and will involve manual handling and rostered weekend working.
