The Building Control Service in Manchester has a key role to play in the evolution of our City, making sure developments are high-quality, safe, inclusive, and sustainable. If you’re successful, you’ll join a team of Building Control professionals pushing forward a high standard of healthy, safe, sustainable, and accessible buildings within the City.
You’ll be able to show that you have knowledge and experience of Building Control, with particular emphasis on the scrutiny of designs and inspection of work across the full spectrum of the construction industry gained within either a Local Authority or Approved Inspector setting.
Ideally you will be a chartered member of an appropriate Building Control related professional organisation (e.g. CABE, RICS, CIOB), but if you are still working towards this, and have suitable experience, we’d still love to hear from you.

- A competitive salary up to £42,571 (depending on qualifications and experience; pay review pending). This includes an additional market supplement which is reviewed periodically and is non-contractual.

In order to carry out the full range of duties, the postholder will ideally hold a full UK driving licence, and an appropriate essential-user car allowance will be paid for you to use your own car for work duties. However, it may be possible to adapt the role to suit a candidate who does not have a licence and/or their own vehicle.

As a blended worker, you may be able to work from home or remotely some of the time, or for certain tasks or limited days or hours. For the remainder of the time, you will be required to work at council sites or offices. This will depend on your role’s responsibilities and your personal circumstances.
