This advert was originally advertised on 17th May 2022. Previous applicants need not apply.
There are 2 vacancies within the team, one of them is a new, full-time permanent position and the other is a part-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months to backfill an existing team member. Please indicate in your application for which of the roles you would like to be considered.
Whilst the Castlewood Office in Clevedon is the assigned office base, both roles are designated as mobile workers and will therefore largely involve working at home.
Do you want to make a difference, work in small team for a progressive and highly regarded local authority in the heart of the West of England and make some big changes? The team has recently been restructured and as a result there are two vacant posts needing to be filled, creating an exciting opportunity.
These roles will be responsible for directly managing several complex transformation projects and deliver improvements to critical public services, co-ordinating all activities required through the project life cycle.
You will also be working with an external supplier to oversee the delivery of ICT projects.
The Council’s ICT services are delivered by an external supplier, and you will work closely with their project managers to oversee projects through the complete life cycle.
The external supplier project portfolio has over 100 projects, so you will be used to working in a demanding and busy environment and have an ability to multi-task this element of the role whilst directly manging your own projects. You must have strong organisational and work planning skills, be used to working on your own initiative and be able to deliver results to tight deadlines.
You will be responsible for understanding initial ideas for ICT projects presented by managers across the council and use the information to commission projects from the supplier. You will then need to review the ensuing solution proposals ensuring that they satisfy all the requirements, and work with both customer and supplier to deliver a successful project. You will need to possess excellent communication skills, converting technical information into plain English or vice-versa as appropriate for the intended audience.
