Halton Day Services provide a range of support for adults with Learning Disabilities, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities and Dementia. Sited across many different venues and businesses within Halton, people have the opportunity to work in a variety of active businesses including catering outlets, a brewery, a hair salon, a goat farm and shop mobility.
An evidence based Active Support model of care ensures that attendees are able to access working within the service businesses at a level accessible to their individual needs. People have the opportunity to develop and learn new skills and gain promotion within the service, with the ultimate aspirations to secure paid work whilst promoting independence and inclusion.
The role of the day service officer is a dual role that not only takes responsibility for overseeing the day to day running of individual businesses but also provides front line supervision and support to individuals accessing the service and staff members supporting those individuals.
Due to the nature of the service you will need to have a level of expertise/qualifications in one or more of the day service business areas. For example, you may be a qualified hair dresser, an experienced chef/caterer, a brewer, have skills in animal husbandry or food/retail management. Your business skills and confidence will be sufficient to take responsibility for managing the day to day running of those business areas. This means you will also have skills in customer care, retail management and staff supervision. You will also fully appreciate the value you can bring to people’s lives by sharing your expertise and supporting people to work within your business areas. You will be committed to making activity accessible and meaningful for people with Learning Disabilities and other complex needs. Being a driver is essential for this post.
