Service Desk and Deskside Engineer
We are seeking to appoint an ambitious Service Desk and Deskside Engineer to join our Deskside team to provide technical support. The post-holder will play a vital role in providing a professional customer-focused service to the council’s customers, including the provision of advice and guidance to ensure incidents and problems are resolved efficiently and within defined Service Level Agreements.
We are looking for a candidate with good knowledge and experience of working in a fast-paced IT environment. Excellent customer service, communication and organisational skills as well as an ability to problem solve complex situations to a successful conclusion are essential.
To fulfil the role, you will have:
· Experience of working in a customer services environment, call handling or face to face.
· Experience of following instructions and procedures to assist with the resolution of incidents.
· Knowledge and understanding of Service Level Agreements and their purpose.
· Knowledge of Asset Management and the importance of maintaining accurate records.
· Keen interest in IT Software and Hardware and other IT peripherals.
The successful applicant must be dynamic and have excellent troubleshooting skills with a key focus on customer service.

To join us, you’ll need a minimum of a Level 2 qualification and a willingness to attend our mandatory IOSH Working Safely course. It would be desirable if you also had some ITIL foundation training.

You’ll work from our main office location at Westgate Plaza One, Westgate, Barnsley, S70 2DR where we support flexible working arrangements in line with service requirements.
We operate a 37-hour working week on a flexi-time scheme and coordinate with one another to maintain a level of service cover between the hours of 9am - 5pm
