Our Revenues and Benefits Service is critical to our future success as it facilitates the billing and collection of Council Tax and Business Rates as well as the assessment of Benefit claims thus ensuring we achieve positive outcomes in a sensitive way. Help us change for the better.
As a clerical officer in Customer Accounts you will work as part of a small team who open and sort all post received and prioritise it by impact to ensure it reaches the assessment teams in a timely and secure manner. The main areas of responsibility are:
• Handling post and information securely ensuring it reaches the intended recipient.
• Scanning and indexing all the incoming post.
• Returning post and identifying valuables for return by recorded delivery on the same day.
You will be required to work within a task based environment managing repetitive work, ensuring administrative processes are done with attention to detail and care. An awareness of working within an administrative role relating to Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Benefit would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given.
It’s always busy, so working as a team to process lots of information efficiently is essential. As it is a small team you may be required to work flexibly to cover holidays and long-term absences although prior notice will be given.
