Part time post (Central Hub) is based in Central Library in Croydon Clocktower, Katharine Street, Croydon, CR9 1ET
Senior Supervisor would be available to travel to any Croydon Library
About the role: Croydon Council is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Library Supervisor to run the day-to-day library services in four libraries. You will have experience managing, timetabling and training staff. You will support timetabling across 13 libraries, with specific responsibility for 4 libraries in your hub (North, Central or South). Working as one of a team of Senior Library Supervisors, you will oversee the training and performance of all frontline staff to ensure there is consistent and excellent service delivery across all libraries. You will lead by example on delivery of frontline services, demonstrating a commitment to team-working and customer care.
You will demonstrate a full understanding of the library offer, including the national Universal Offers and national campaigns like the Summer Reading Challenge. You will at times liaise with colleagues across the 22 boroughs who make up The Libraries Consortium. You will be responsible for local community engagement and work with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to develop the volunteer offer. You will ensure we actively represent and champion Croydon’s diverse communities.
You will be supporting the delivery of service wide developments and initiatives, including the implementation of self-service technology which allows libraries to be accessible unstaffed. You will also work in partnership with other Council and community organisations to hire library buildings in order to provide services to the local community.
