The starting salary for this role is £27,991 per annum for working 36 hours per week. This position is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity.
The role is based at Dakota, Brooklands in Weybridge with the opportunity to work at home for 3 days per week after your initial 6-week office-based induction.
We are looking for enthusiastic people who are passionate about providing excellent customer service to work in our Adult Social Care Information & Advice Service.
The Adult Social Care Information & Advice Service is part of Surrey’s Contact Centre and is the 'front door' to Adult Social Care services. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, meeting key performance indicators, and responding to a broad range of enquiries from the public, professionals, and partner agencies in accordance with policy and legislation.
As an Advisory Officer, you will be a highly organised, confident communicator with a professional and flexible approach to your work. You will have the ability to interact positively with residents and professionals by putting them at ease and displaying understanding and empathy. You will have the resilience to cope with sensitive and at times upsetting information and be able to manage challenging calls, prioritise effectively and remain calm whilst working under pressure.
You will understand your responsibility to safeguard confidential information and respect the privacy of residents. A Basic DBS ‘Disclosure & Barring Service’ check will be required for this role.
As the public voice of the Council, you will have an extremely important role to play which demands a positive and proactive attitude. You will take calls from the public and partner agencies, taking necessary details and identifying the appropriate teams based on priority and specific guidelines underpinned by Levels of Need.
You will screen electronic referrals from partner agencies, triaging these referrals based on specific guidance and processing these based on urgency.
You will input electronically received information into appropriate databases using established pathways, as directed, and ensure that information is sent to Social Care teams in a timely manner. The ability to multitask confidently across various IT systems is essential.
You will work collaboratively with team members to provide a high quality and efficient support to the Service's overall aim to improve outcomes for residents.

- An understanding of Social Care and Health issues, with a basic awareness of public sector and voluntary agencies
- Experience of providing high levels of customer care and professionalism to members of the public in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent IT skills and ability to use databases to a high standard of accuracy, adhering to established pathways
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly and as part of a team
- Ability to articulate yourself and communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to travel to Brooklands, Weybridge for at least 2 days per week following your initial 6-week office-based induction
- Ability to work from home in a confidential space, including access to secure Wi-Fi
