North Somerset Council is seeking a dynamic and talented individual to become our Complaints and Directorate Governance Manager across the Children’s’ and Adults Services Directorates.

The successful candidate will oversee our statutory obligations in respect of complaints and concerns raised by children and adult users of social care services and their families, and of those made in relation to education services such as SEND statutory assessments and school admissions applications. The Complaints and Directorate Governance Manager will be responsible for providing a client-centric, sensitive and responsive customer care and complaints service and the development and evaluation of appropriate systems which ensures the council meets these statutory obligations. They will actively promote best practice and sound customer care across the range of children and adult services, using feedback from complaints as a focus for training and continuous professional development and service improvements.

The Complaints and Directorate Governance Team also oversees many of the governance processes of the directorates such as emergency management, office moves, FOI and SARs disclosures.  This post-holder manages two members of staff who, make up the 2.5FTE posts across the team.

The successful candidate will be customer centred, an excellent communicator and passionate about improving outcomes for children, adults and their families in an impartial manner. They will also have experience of working in the public sector and have a sound understanding and knowledge of social care and educated to degree level, in an appropriate subject.

This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
