Enfield’s Joint service for disabled children:

This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the management team of a specialist social care service recognised nationally for its excellent and innovative provision to disabled children and their families.

The JSDC comprises social care and educational professionals and collaborates closely with children and young people and parent carers, health professionals and parent, community and voluntary organisations to ensure the provision of the highest quality services and support.

Enfield is a pioneering authority and as such is at the forefront of developing the challenging agenda for Disabled children. We have passionate social workers and managers with high aspirations for disabled children and young people.

This team manager will be responsibility for driving the development of innovative short breaks and family support services which foster family resilience and to prevent family breakdown.

You will need to be imaginative and creative in your approach to service development and delivery ensuring the views of parents and young people remain at the heart of decision making.

We need an experienced manager who has extensive experience of managing all aspects of social care practice as they will be managing the service’s busy duty system and innovative short breaks hub. The short breaks hub was created in 2021 to further develop the local offer services available to Children and Young People with Disabilities in Enfield. Furthermore, the hub is responsible for the tracking, reviewing and set-up of short break packages.

You will need to have extensive experience in Child Protection and Child in Need work and have knowledge and experience of working within the PLO framework and of care proceedings.

The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to a high standard.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, planning and administrative skills to a high standard, alongside being able to plan your workload in order to meet strict deadlines and performance targets.

You must be committed to continuous service improvement, ensuring the views of parents and young people remain at the heart of decision making.

You will need to have experience of working within a diverse community and be able to maintain high quality practise while prioritising competing demands.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is a priority in Enfield. Performance reviews are undertaken regularly and underpinned by Enfield’s eclectic and exciting training programme. Social workers are encouraged to take responsibility for their CPD and to take advantage of the training opportunities on offer.

You will have a Degree in Social Work (minimum Upper Second, if classified) or equivalent and must be HCPC registered.
