Newham Together – The best place for children and young people (click here to view our recruitment video)

There has never been a more exciting time to develop as a manager and lead a social work team at Newham.

You may have heard that Newham’s transformation journey is showing consistent improvement and making ground; Ofsted recently recognised the “sustained and steady” progress we are making following our recent monitoring visit, the findings of which you can read in full here.

Embedding new, permanent Team Managers into our workforce is key to our ambition of becoming a centre of excellence in Children’s Social Care by 2023; Team managers are our leaders of practice, driving frontline social work to get the best results for our children and families. Team Managers can now look to an Assistant Team Manager, a Social Care Academy, an expanded QA service, and a team of Family Therapists to assist them in leading excellent practice within their teams. These changes are a small part of the positive impact that our permanent, stable senior leadership team are making, which was recognised in our recent Ofsted visit. Newham is moving in the right direction.

Newham offers a real opportunity for Team Managers to make a difference. Working with us will provide invaluable experience, career progression opportunities, and the chance to put being part of our journey to ‘Good’ on your CV.

Apply now, and be part of our success.

Team Managers play a vital role in supporting our Newham Together vision by ensuring that our social workers feel supported and that high quality systemic practice is delivered to children and families. Team Managers are expected to show strong but compassionate leadership and create a secure team environment of open discussion/challenge whilst allowing restorative work to flourish.

We are currently open to applications from Team Managers for the following services:

  • Safeguarding and Intervention
  • Assessment
  • Children in Care (LAC)
  • DCYPS (Children with Disabilities)

Team Managers in Intervention manage teams of 5 social workers, with the support of an Assistant Team Manager shared across each service. Team Managers in Assessment lead teams of 6 Social Workers supported by an Assistant Team Manager (per team). Team Managers in Children in Care look after a team of 6, with an Assistant Team Manager supporting each team. Team Managers in DCYPS currently manage 6 social workers per team, and we are looking to bring Assistant Team Managers into this service.
