About you…

  • A degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification, and Social Work England registration
  • Evidence of practical application of social work skills in family support or duty setting
  • Knowledge of the issues that affect parenting capacity and the impact of deprivation on child development
  • Knowledge of Child-care legislation
  • Skilled in the management of risk and assessment of children's needs
  • Great communication skills, able to explain complicated information simply

About the role…
As the Social Worker Referral, Assessment & Intervention Service:

  • You will respond to new referrals from professionals and members of the public
  • You will complete assessments and formulate plans for families to ensure that they receive the right support at the right time
  • You will participate fully in the duty system and provide specialist duty cover as required, supporting and advising customers

The successful applicant for this post will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The costs for the DBS and your Social Work England registration are paid by the council.
