Senior Democratic Services Officer
(P01745)

Starting salary £35,480pa with potential progression to £38,481pa on achieving designated skills and experience

37 hours per week

The Borough of Welwyn Hatfield is unique, with its foundation steeped in history. It is no surprise it is a place where people want to live and work.

In this pivotal role, you will ensure residents of the Borough have access to local democracy whilst upholding the principals of good governance. If you have a genuine interest in democracy and governance, are committed to driving change and improving services, this is the role for you.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the Governance Services Team and will provide a comprehensive range of services, including support to various council meetings throughout the municipal year.

You will play a full role in the democratic life of the council: being responsible for the preparation of committee summonses, agendas, provision of advice during meetings, report preparation and ensuring an accurate and timely record of meetings is made.

This role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. This is a small team, so we need a good team player who welcomes and responds positively to change as we are in the process of a council-wide modernisation programme.

This is an exciting time to join the council as we continue our journey of change, modernizing our services for those who live and work in Welwyn Hatfield.

The council have developed a ‘One Team’ approach to working and this relies on each and every person working collaboratively to deliver shared goals. To be a positive influence on this environment, you’ll need to be able to support others and be a genuine team player. In exchange we can offer a competitive salary, a range of flexible working options / hybrid working arrangements and a genuine commitment to support your wellbeing at work.

Closing date for applications is 5 June 2022.

Assessments will be held on 10 June 2022, with interviews on 15 June 2022.
