About The Job
Salary: £41,591 - £44,624 per annum
Working Pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week - flexible working available
Contract Length: Fixed term or Secondment, 1 year
Location: County Hall, Chichester and working from home

In this role you will continue to develop the People Support function by influencing strategic decision making and leading by example. You will be responsible for leading and promoting workforce planning and resource management at a mid-senior level and a key element will be the delivery of an effective, fair, equitable and consistent service. You will oversee and have overall management responsibility for all services provided within the People Support function.
You'll be responsible for a small team of highly competent administrators and will also have responsibilities covering a broad spectrum including:
- Team development
- Workforce planning and resourcing
- A focus on ensuring our processes support employee relations
- FRS policy development
- Working collaboratively with WSCC HR operations
- Employee engagement, equality, recruitment
- Payroll, pension and occupational health
- Succession planning
- Effective organisational performance.
You will also lead on and deliver against specific people support projects which respond to our HMICFRS inspection outcomes and link in with WSCC partners, external partners in other Fire & Rescue Services and the National Fire Chiefs Council.
Experience and Skills
As the Workforce Planning & People Manager, you will have strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills, being able to constructively challenge and demand high levels of performance, quality and customer experience while role modelling and ensuring a culture of psychological safety and collaboration.
Your ingenuity and critical thinking will allow you to deliver a comprehensive people support service that is efficient, person centred, and data led. You must have an excellent understanding of people support systems as well as policy and process creation, development, and refinement to inform service improvement. You'll be a strategic thinker with the ability to influence and advise senior colleagues positively and strategically.
