A Medway Council Apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to earn a salary and gain a qualification whilst gathering invaluable workplace skills and experience. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Internal Audit team within the Internal Audit & Counter Fraud Shared Service. This is a great chance to gain the Internal Audit Practitioner qualification whilst working within the Internal Audit team, which helps evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the councils’ risk management, governance and control processes.
The post holder will learn to carry out internal audit reviews in various service areas of both councils, assessing the effectiveness of the control environment and agreeing appropriate actions to make improvements where necessary. These audits must be carried out within set timescales, so the post holder will learn how to manage their time and own workload effectively.
As part of this role, you can expect to undertake the following tasks;
- Undertaking research
- Support meetings with clients in other council services
- Analysing data
- Gathering evidence
- Assist with writing summaries / reports
- Assist with agreeing actions
- Responding to queries via telephone or email
Ideally you will have good communication and interpersonal skills, combined with competent IT skills, accurate data entry along with a good attention to detail. However we are happy to support you to reach those goals if you are highly motivated and have the desire to learn and succeed.
