Job Duties:

Hertfordshire County Council Services for Young People is the primary provider of youth work; information advice and guidance; work related learning and work experience to young people in Hertfordshire. 

The Service is a key contributor to the prevention and early intervention / early help agenda and in particular Hertfordshire County Council’s aim of supporting young people to make a successful transition to an economically viable adult life.

Responsible for a multi-disciplinary team, the Area Team Manager will have successful practice and management experience of youth work or Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and a track record of establishing a culture of continuous improvement and achievement through delivering robust and effective performance management.

In addition to direct support from the Local Authority, significant services are traded such as Careers Education Information Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) and work-related learning to schools.  Several externally funded contracts are delivered.  The Area Team Manager will need to be able to successfully sell services, making full use of appropriate national and local priorities including Ofsted guidance relevant to schools.

As well as having achieved in relevant previous roles, the Area Team Manager will need to show strong leadership; be innovative, flexible, motivational, have good attention to detail and the ability to engage and negotiate with a wide a range of partners from district councils, the voluntary sector, employers, education providers and elected members.

The Service delivers seven days a week in schools, community venues, young people’s centres and projects using a variety of different styles and methods.
