Salary: £26,564 to £28,863 inclusive annual salary +18.5% employer pension contribution

St Albans is a city within the green belt 20 minutes from London’s St Pancras by train. The market offices are in a former fourteenth century inn in the centre of St Albans amid medieval alleyways filled with restaurants, cafés, and independent shops. The market is close to the Cathedral and Verulamium Park. It is a great place to live and work. St Albans has been home to a market since the ninth century and it is the market team’s job to ensure that the market grows and continues to thrive in its second millennium and beyond.
In this role you will work with the other members of the market team to bring new traders to St Albans Markets, support the existing traders, and ensure the smooth running of operations on markets days. The market team deliver 140 market events each year as well as supporting our charity and events teams.
We are looking for someone who has: an appreciation of the role of markets in city centre regeneration, the ability to deal fairly with people’s competing demands, and to remain firm and patient in situations with stressed or agitated customers. Someone who is computer literate, has initiative and enjoys solving problems. The role involves working every Saturdays and multiple Sundays per month.
