Senior SEND Officer

Starting salary: JM1: £32,798 per annum
Location: Based in Castlewood, Clevedon
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

The SEND Team requires a Senior Officer to form part of the SEND Management Team and to deliver services in line with statutory requirements. The post holder will have line management responsibilities. They will attend mediations and manage individual tribunal cases, including representing the local authority at hearings.
Having extensive experience of SEND, they will hold their own caseload including more complex cases and support officers with their caseloads. The role includes the development of processes, policies and projects as required as well as a focus on quality improvement. The role requires the ability to develop excellent working relationships with children, young people, families and other professionals from a range of disciplines, including education, health and social care. Additionally, they will oversee the TUF process at an operational level, including the planning of moderation days.
We are a busy team and deal with sensitive, and at times, difficult situations. The successful candidate will have good organisational and interpersonal skills, have experience of similar work within a public sector and will need to be able to travel within North Somerset and further afield to support out of area placements.
This post is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
