Interim Race Equality, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion (READI) Programme Manager
Salary: Grade 10 - £51,717 - £55,980 per annum

We have therefore established a team (initially temporary) to develop the detailed action plan to deliver the recommendations from our recent READI (Race, Equalities, Accessibility, Diversity, Inclusion) Review and to develop the necessary race equality and other strategies to help achieve our commitments.

About the Role
This role is offered as a secondment opportunity for a minimum of six months.
We are seeking an individual with a passion for equalities, diversity and inclusion who can work at pace and will be proactive in leading us in the challenge of change in Havering with clear targets and outcomes.
You will engage with and secure agreement from leaders across the organisation, staff forums, partner organisations, residents, communities, businesses and voluntary and community groups and other invested stakeholders both internally and externally.
You will provide expert (READI) Race, Equality, Accessibility, Diversity and Inclusion advice and guidance to the senior leadership of the organisation as well as making recommendations that shape future service delivery, strategy, and culture.
You will have a comprehensive and thorough understanding of institutional, structural, and systemic inequalities (and or racial hierarchies etc), and their impact on society and in the workplace.
This role is minimum fixed term opportunity for 6 months.
- You will be clear in your views around equalities – especially on the ground-breaking and radically different and fit for purpose approaches necessary.
- You will understand and acknowledge institutional and structural discrimination and disadvantage.
- You will make informed recommendations that shape future service delivery, strategy and culture for residents and staff.
- You will have previously led a similar change programme which resulted in high impacts.
- You will have the confidence to challenge the non-compliance to equality, diversity, inclusion, and cohesion.
- You will be an expert in the field (READI) Race, Equality, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion areas.
- You will be familiar with and able comply with the (EFLG) equalities framework for local government.
- You will be resilient, solution focused and comfortable having difficult conversations.
You will have a Programme Management qualification OR considerable experience.
