This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people who have gone missing.  Upon the return of the young person to either their home or care placement, you will make contact with them to offer a return home interview.  As a team we are seeking to reduce the level of missing episodes and periods for Birmingham’s young people with a view to reducing the risk of exploitation.

You will be working within Empower U, a dynamic multi-agency Exploitation Hub where we are developing an innovative city wide contextual safeguarding approach to issues around exploitation missing and serious youth violence.  We are seeking to extend the hours we offer the service to young people.  This post is part of this development.  We are looking to recruit full time staff who will work flexibly, but be available till 8pm on a Friday and Monday evening, and 11am - 4pm on a Saturday and Sunday.

You will need good people skills and experience of engaging young people effectively. You will have a caring nature and be professionally curious about why a young person has gone missing and the impact of missing on the child(ren).  You will be able to work within an area team approach and with other professionals and local organisations to identify and address the issues that are leading to a young person to go missing underpinned by empowering, anti-oppressive, trauma informed and culturally competent practice (training will be provided for this).

The advertisement will be closed once we reach the quota of 30 applicants to this post.
