Required for September 2022

A well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher of Physics is required at this very successful 11-18 girls’ grammar school in Reading. Applicants need to be able to teach Physics throughout the school including A Level and Science at KS3.

Kendrick School is a centre of academic excellence with a track record of high performance and achievement. Currently we are undergoing an expansion process to become a four form entry school which makes this is a most exciting time to join the school, as both our facilities and staffing are increasing.

The Kendrick school community is welcoming, happy and inclusive; students are engaging, and curious and staff appreciate working with students who demonstrate a love of learning and a desire to be challenged.

The wellbeing of everyone is a priority at Kendrick and we encourage students and staff to be kind, caring and supportive of each other.

The Physics Department has benefitted from Specialist School status. All students take GCSE Physics and there are large numbers of students who study the subject at A Level, with many pursuing Physics and/or related subjects at university. Kendrick is a SPN Lead School (Stimulating Physics Network) which provides support and training to local schools.

The Science Department as a whole received the Science Mark Platinum Award from the National STEM Centre in 2019 to recognise outstanding practice.

This position would suit a recently qualified teacher or more experienced teacher who is able to impart passion and enthusiasm for the subject to highly motivated, creative and engaging students. Kendrick School has a very good track record of developing ECTs and inducting new staff into the school.

The successful candidate would be joining a supportive and experienced department and school that values its staff and prioritises professional development both within the department and more widely.

Situated in central Reading, Kendrick is easily accessible by all transport links. Staff at Kendrick School benefit from free car parking, a contributory pension scheme, high quality training and development and use of the sporting facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts and a sports hall.

To arrange an informal enquiry, please email Mr Andy Hodge, Head of Science (ahodge@kendrick.reading.sch.uk) or Dr Helen Smalley, Subject Leader of Physics (hsmalley@kendrick.reading.sch.uk).
