What it's like working in our team...

The Housing Management Team is a small but busy team providing an extensive and responsive property management service to homeless clients placed into temporary accommodation procured by the Council. Sitting within the Welfare and Housing Service the team support each other by working closely together to achieve the right results, and to deliver a holistic service to clients who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will be involved in varied and challenging work daily.

Your will be supported to carry out the following duties, responsibilities and training...

  • Provision of an effective administrative support to the Housing Management Team Leader and a team of Housing Management Officers, as well as carrying out specific tasks relating to tenancies, health & safety compliance and voids
  • To provide a range of administrative task in order to support the delivery of housing Management services such as arrangements for sign up and ensuring all relevant paperwork and benefit claims are completed.
  • Act as first point of contact by receiving and managing all telephone and email enquiries, resolving problems as far as possible. Work in accordance with housing management procedures, ensure records are kept up to date and actions taken in a timely manner
  • Assist in the delivery of an efficient and comprehensive temporary accommodation service ensuring homes are let within agreed targets and in line with the relevant temporary accommodation policy/procedure
  • To assist in the management of individuals placed in Bed and Breakfast & Emergency Accommodation. To liaise directly with Landlords to ensure there is good communication between B&B owners and the Accommodation Team.
  • To provide advice and guidance to customers on a range of housing solutions, including sharing information about the housing register and how to bid
  • To manage invoicing effectively by raising requisitions, creating Purchase Orders and processing.

What we're looking for...

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Housing Assistant to join our busy Housing Management Team, working specifically with residents in temporary accommodation. With experience of working in a housing settling or related work e.g housing advice/ welfare benefits, voluntary sector or housing association.

You will need to have strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with colleagues, other departments and statutory and voluntary agencies to provide an effective customer focused service for homeless applicants, many of whom have multiple vulnerabilities and support needs.

Must be confident with using IT systems including Office 365
