Our aim is to put our customers at the heart of what we do, and we strive to ensure we provide the very best services all our customers.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Home Ownership Team for a Home Ownership Officer.

This career grade post is the perfect role for either an experienced leasehold practitioner or someone looking to start out in their career in leasehold. Either way, we want to support and develop your skills to maximise the value of your contribution to the council. And we expect to appoint someone who has a genuine drive for personal development and achievement.

This is a key role, and it will be up to you to provide a customer focussed, proactive, comprehensive and high quality leasehold management service to council leaseholders in Welwyn Hatfield.

This is a varied role encompassing the calculation and billing of annual service charges & major works and administering the sale of council properties through the right to buy. We are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience of working in a Housing, Accounts or Administration field
  • Experience of analysing and interpreting information in a meaningful and understandable way
  • Good level of numeric, analytical and decision making skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and other systems/applications

About you:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills tailored towards a range of audiences
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to effectively manage and plan a varied workload
  • Experience of dealing with customers displaying challenging behaviour

In return, we can offer you a generous salary with a range of flexible benefits. As we move towards a more hybrid working arrangement, we can support a range of flexible working options that will suit you whilst ensuring we meet the needs of the community we support. Within the role we offer flexible working arrangements with both time working from home and in the office.

If you think you have the skills and enjoy a challenge, we’d like to hear from you.

The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential in this post

Closing date for applications is 25 May 2022.
