Sessional Teacher (part-time) Creative Writing– £18.14 - £34.65p.h

Havering Adult College is now looking to recruit a sessional teacher, who will plan, deliver and assess on a range of new courses for Creative Writing. Courses are delivered across the week both during the day and in the evenings. Courses run during term time and the school holidays subject to demand.
About the Job
The role includes teaching a variety of Creative Writing courses, on autobiographical writing, self-publishing workshops, short-stories and writing for blogs.
You will prepare and deliver teaching and learning that meets the individual needs of the learners whilst assessing and providing feedback to learners as required. You will support the learners during the course and help them develop their skills, knowledge and understanding.
The hourly rate of pay for this course includes planning and marking where required.
You will support the learners throughout their learning programme, ensuring assessment records are kept up-to-date, targets are met and meaningful feedback is provided.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of Equality and Diversity, and an appreciation of the requirements of teachers under the Safeguarding of Children & Vulnerable Adults regulations.

Ideally, you will have experience as a published author and a commitment to support new writers to develop their own voice and their own skills in the craft of writing. You will have some experience of teaching in its broadest sense (for example, through author events or professional training) and will be skilled in providing constructive critical feedback
The successful applicants will be responsible for planning and delivering the courses, as well as their own travel to and from the delivery centres.
