About the role
We are looking for an organised and dynamic individual to join the busy Orbis Insurance team.
While based primarily at East Sussex, you will be part of a team who provide a highly regarded, professional service to East Sussex County Council, Surrey County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council. Your role will be to support the team to provide a comprehensive insurance function, including elements of claims handling, underwriting, policy management and offering professional advice to all council Departments and schools.
You will need to be self-motived and an excellent team player, with the ability to work on your own initiative as well as providing support and assistance to other members of the team. You should be well organised and a good communicator who is comfortable providing advice and guidance to a wide variety of staff at all levels, external service providers such as Insurance Companies, loss adjusters, Insurance brokers, as well as members of the public. You should have good working knowledge of MS Office and be prepared to quickly learn the council’s claims handling system, Lachs.
This post has an apprenticeship attached to it. The successful applicant will undertake the level 4 Insurance Professional Apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship will be made up of practical employment experience, whilst having an education programme that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. Observation and assessment, along with written work and set learning will take place over the course of the apprenticeship.
During this programme, 20% of your contracted working hours will be spent on learning and developing the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours. This development time will include learning new relevant tasks in your role, embedding your knowledge in your role, practical workplace training, spending development time with your Line Manager, attending online or face-to-face courses and time spent writing assignments/assessments or directed self-study hours
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
Work Permits: we may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Border Agency’s Points-based Immigration System.
