Lead and transform our strategic support and democratic services functions.

 

This is an opportunity for you to bring your expertise and knowledge of administration and democratic services to Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Services and lead the reform and improvement of our approach.

Your work with the Fire and Rescue Authority will enable greater transparency on the performance of the Authority and support the delivery of key reports on new and emerging projects and priorities.

 

What you will be doing

 

As a member of Strategic Support and Assurance management team you will be at the heart of the organisation and at the forefront of how we strengthen local democracy.

 

Working closely with our Monitoring Officer and our Head of Strategic Support and Assurance, you will be responsible for strategic support services and our democratic services function, ensuring good governance and robust processes are in place to manage our Fire and Rescue Authority meetings That means managing the smooth operation and administration of internal working groups and Fire and rescue authority committee meetings. You will be reviewing existing processes and developing modern solutions for the undertaking of our business processes.

 

Under your leadership, support services will be transformed, helping our senior leaders to thrive, and enabling the democratic services function to deliver regular reports, papers and minutes that ensure best practice and maintain transparency and accountability.

 

You will be based at Headquarters, Kempston with the requirement to regularly attend meetings in Dunstable and Kempston but with flexibility to work from home or in our other offices.

 

What you will bring

 

To succeed in this role, you will need a background in managing a busy office with competing demands, supervising support staff, and in improving administrative and strategic processes and procedures.

 

This role will provide you with the opportunity to utilise your aptitude for change and improvement in a complex, political environment.
