An important area of work includes resolving traffic related problems experienced by Newham’s residents and businesses.
Senior Traffic Engineer
£33,282 -£35,991 pa
An enthusiastic, efficient and highly motivated senior traffic engineer is being sought for Newham’s Traffic Management and Safety Team.
The role would suit a candidate with considerable experience as a traffic engineer, a good understanding of the issues relating to traffic management and road safety, innovative cycling, sustainable transport, school travel planning, smarter travel initiatives and road safety education.
The successful candidate will either lead on or assist with (depending on experience), the design, development and project management of a variety of schemes which are helping to shape Newham as it undergoes major transformation with a massive development programme.
These role is primarily associated with planning, consultation and preliminary design, but may also include detailed design and site supervision, depending on the individual skills.
To apply for this role, you will have the knowledge, experience and skills to work in a pressurised environment, both on your own and within a team, to deliver effective schemes to tight deadlines.
You will also be seeking to gain experience and develop your career, with a view to becoming a Chartered Engineer in due course. The Highways and Traffic Team consists of many highly experienced and motivated engineers with a strong ethos for mentoring staff to help with their development.
