Job introduction

Salary: £23,225 - £28,316 per annum
Contract type: Permanent
Working pattern: 52 weeks, full-time

Closing date: Monday 23 May 2022

About the role

We are delighted to be recruiting 2 Skills & Employability Advisers to support the delivery of the YES across East Sussex (Eastbourne-based), supporting the YES Team Leader to ensure a high standard of service is maintained.

Located within the Youth Employability Service (YES), with a co-location of 0.5FTE in the Youth Offending Team (YOT), the Advisers will work at an operational level to provide support to young people aged 15-18-years-old.

The Advisers will be working with young people initially in Year 11, across the East of West side of the County, supporting them with successful transition from secondary education into Year 12 and 13. The Advisers will use a MAPP (Mapping and Assessing Personal Progress) assessment, information from the school and parents or carers to identify needs or barriers with the young person entering and sustaining post-16 provision. Using this information, the Advisers will provide support to address these barriers and engage with the young persons’ post-16 provider, to improve the young persons’ chance of sustaining post-16 provision in the short and improving their longer-term career prospects.

The Advisers will also work closely with post 16 providers to identify young people who are at risk of leaving their provider or who may be at risk of withdrawing and to intervene and support them back into education.

The roles will be co-located within the YOT office for a minimum of 0.5 days per week working in partnership to support vulnerable young people with YOT orders, or an offending background, with a return to education, employment, or training. These roles will also be expected to attend team meetings for their co-located team and input into relevant databases and systems as required by the YOT.

Both full and part-time applications will be considered.

Please visit our website for the full job description and application guidelines.

Please note that we reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as soon as possible
