We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to fulfill the post of District Officer within our Environment, Education and Enforcement Section based in Willand Devon. The post will involve working 37 hours per week over four days with one Saturday per month on a rota basis see work plan Appendix A.
The successful candidate will be seen as the `Eyes and Ears’ of the Council which will include enforcement and advice on environmental crime issues such as dog fouling, litter, fly tipping and waste enforcement as well as assisting with the management of the Council’s car parks.
The post offers a wide and varied role of duties which are mainly based outside of the office environment, where there is an opportunity to work alongside/within the community.
The post holder will need to possess good communication, tact and diplomacy skills to enable them to deal with members of the public in various situations.
There is a need to be able to deal confidentially with confrontational situations with the members of the public in various situations, i.e. when issuing (PCN’s) Parking Charge Notices and (FPN’s) Fixed Penalty Notices.
Applicants should be in good physical health and in possession of a clean driving licence. A van and the necessary equipment is provided. Full training will be given, where necessary.
A satisfactory basic disclosure check and three years complete employment history will be requested in the event of you being offered the position.
