Independent Fostering Assessors

Sefton's foster carers are amazing, but sadly we don’t have enough carers to provide our children with loving homes. Recruiting more foster carers is a key part of Sefton’s commitment to changing children’s lives.

Do you have the passion and drive to help us recruit the best carers for our looked after children? Sefton’s Fostering Service is embarking on a period of huge investment and growth, this is a really exciting time to join us as an assessor!

We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Form F assessors to work on a self-employed, freelance basis.

The Role

  • To assess and prepare prospective foster carers.
  • To quickly identify and counsel out those applicants not suitable for the organisation.
  • To complete Form F reports and present assessments to fostering panel.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience of completing Form F assessments.
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience in children’s services (applicants with fostering experience will be prioritised).
  • Knowledge of NMS and Fostering Services Regulations.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding.
  • The ability to produce high quality, evidence based reports.
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and organise your workload and work within strict deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Access to your own transport and a willingness to travel.
  • Ability to pass statutory and council checks as part of the employment process.

 What we offer

  • Competitive fees of £2,000 per assessment following presentation at panel.
  • Professional guidance and advice.
  • Frequent supervision and ‘keep in touch’ points with the local authority.

Successful candidates will be considered as ‘office holders’ and payment will be made subject to any statutory deductions required.

If you are able to work independently, to a high standard and within specified timescales we want to hear from you! If you would like to apply to become an Independent Form F Assessor please send your CV to Simon.Fisher@sefton.gov.uk
