Job Title: Seasonal Instructor
Location: Hudnall Park
Salary Range: £23,178 progressing to £26,437 pa (pro rata)
Hours: Full Time 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term contract for 6 months, 21st February to mid-August, may be extended.
A high level of bookings for next year has created a great opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated instructors to increase our small team at Hudnall Park residential activities centre.
These jobs are on a fixed term contract with a possibility to progress to a full time, permanent post.
Situated in over 85 acres of open downland and mixed woodland on the edge of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hudnall Park provides residential and day educational courses to organised groups. Part of Hertfordshire’s Services for Young People, the Centre is highly regarded for its standards of excellence and professionalism in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences.
Applicants should have an understanding of how outdoor education can be used to develop children’s and young people’s personal and social skills, and believe in the value of outdoor learning.
Skill/experience in any of the land-based activities offered by the centre will be advantageous - archery, bush-craft, climbing, low ropes, mountain-biking, problem-solving and team-building activities, orienteering or navigation, along with an interest or experience in teaching or leading natural history and environmental activities.
Preference will be given to applicants holding at least one leadership/instructor award in the following: -
- Archery (GNAS/Archery GB),
- Mountain-biking (MIAS/MBLA L2),
- Navigation (Lowland/Countryside Leader or BEL)
A climbing wall instructor award or higher would also be useful.
A current First Aid qualification, that will last for the duration of the appointment, is required.
Successful applicants will spend most of their time delivering outcome-based sessions to visiting groups but will also be expected to assist in maintaining equipment and developing resources with other staff to support the delivery of the activities on offer.
Some evening and weekend working will be required to support the operational needs of the Centre, for which an allowance payment will be made.
There is no instructor accommodation on site.
Applicants should have their own motorised transport and driving licence.
