About the role

Responding to the increasing needs of families in Sussex, Chichester Diocesan Association for Family Support Work is looking to appoint 2 full-time and 4 part-time Practitioners in Sussex to start April 2022.

This an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join one of the oldest children’s charities in Sussex. As a Practitioner, you will work with a wide range of families and children. Referrals are received from a broad spectrum of schools, voluntary and statutory agencies.

Key responsibilities include: identifying and managing own caseload, developing bespoke support services for each family, promotion and co-ordination of our service in the relevant area, developing support groups, drop-ins and term- and non-term- time activity sessions, providing advice, guidance, support and counselling to families and individuals who are struggling with life. Some of the activities are currently curtailed because of the Covid-19 restrictions.

The successful Practitioner candidates will hold either a degree in Social Work, DipSW or CQSW and be registered with the relevant social care council or with an equivalent professional qualification and registration. You will also have experience of working with children and families and providing support within a multi-agency setting.

You must also have good knowledge of the Children's Act and accompanying guidance and all secondary legislation with a sound understanding of the complex issues facing children and their families today.
