Part time (17,5 hours per week)


The Commissioning Alliance launched a new annual Inspection Service in September 2020, Setting the Standard (StS).


The StS Service aims to ensure that all Nightly Paid Bed and Breakfast and Studio properties used for Temporary Accommodation Pan London, meets minimum Housing Act Standards.


The Scheme is operational across the 31 London Boroughs, and is the initiative of the London Housing Directors Group, to ensure B&B and studio accommodation being used as nightly paid TA meets the required standard. The scheme is supported by the both GLA and MHCLG.


StS Inspection Officer’s role is to inspect TA properties and work with accommodation providers to ensure that property conditions and standards are improved and maintained, and award a StS Grade to the London-wide agreed standard. The purpose of the service is to ensure that properties are safe and suitable for occupation by homeless families and vulnerable individuals. Officers are expected to develop and maintain relationships with Local Authorities and Accommodation Providers.


Applicants should have experience of inspecting properties, including HMOs, have an excellent knowledge of management standards. Candidates should ideally be from a Local Authority Private Sector Housing background or similar.


This is a part time post, applicant is expected to work a 17.5 hours week, with scope for some flexibility.


This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
