PART-TIME ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Scale 2-3 (from £18,562 per annum pro rata to hours worked)
The post is offered on a part-time basis of 20 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 9am – 1pm).
Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Assistant in Public Protection, which includes Environmental Health and Licensing. The successful applicant will be a member of a team undertaking duties to enable the smooth and efficient running of the Department’s Licensing Service.
The main duties are to provide administrative support for the Licensing section of the Commercial Team, processing licensing applications and responding to enquiries. Other duties will include preparing reports, updating various paper and database records and providing written and verbal information. In addition, the post-holder will provide advice and assistance to members of the public both face to face and over the telephone.
The successful applicant must have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s including Maths and English Grade C or above or
a relevant NVQ level 2 (e.g. Business Administration, Customer Service) or significant relevant previous administrative experience. Experience of dealing with the public in person and responding to enquiries in a calm manner is essential. Applicants should have good communication skills, the ability to deal effectively with confidential/sensitive issues, and to converse with ease with customers and provide information in accurate spoken English. They must be able to work on their own initiative and as part of a team.

The successful candidate will be automatically enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme and will be required to obtain a Basic Disclosure.
