Job Title: SfYP Supported Employment Adviser
Salary Range: £27,741 to £30,451
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term until Dec 2023
Diversity: We are an inclusive employer and value a diverse workforce
The Services for Young People (SfYP) Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LDD) team provides a range of specialist services for young people (aged 14-25) with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LDD) and those who are Leaving Care. This involves providing information, advice, and guidance to support them in making positive changes in their lives.
This post is funded through Generation Hertfordshire. The overall aim of Generation Hertfordshire is to develop sustained relationships between employers and severely disadvantaged and under-represented young people, leading directly into newly created opportunities with those employers. It will enable us to level-up opportunities for disadvantaged populations in areas of deprivation and reduce the severe impacts of the pandemic on young people’s prospects. The rationale for the project is that we can most effectively enable cohort young people into opportunities by developing sustained relationships combining a variety of interactions between young people and employers. To enable this, our approach interlocks support for individuals (taster sessions, extended placements, and mentoring) with support for employers (bespoke information and upskilling to incentivise commitment and enable the creation of new opportunities).
We are currently looking to recruit a Supported Employment Adviser to work on the programme. You will be part of the SfYP LDD Team and your office base will be in Stevenage, at Farnham House. The key roles of the Supported Employment Adviser are to provide employment and job broking support to young people with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, working closely with parents/carers and to support employers to consider offering opportunities to young people with LDD by providing LDD awareness training.
You will work within a small Supported Employment team. You will need to have experience in working with young people with LDD and have some understanding of the barriers to learning, training and employment that young people with LDD may have. Training in Systematic Instruction (TSI) and the Level 3 Certificate for Supported Employment Practitioners are desirable qualifications.
You will need to be able to travel independently around the county so a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
Hertfordshire is the County of Opportunity and as an employee you will have access to excellent training, opportunities to develop and expand your skills set and be part of a dynamic and evolving team.
